Broadview, IL 02/09/10: Sunday’s Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational Features A-List Lineup PBA stars, Ludacris, NFL Pro Bowlers join PBA stars in special event to raise money for CP3 Foundation. Doubles competition aired Super Bowl Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern on ESPN
NEW ORLEANS, La. (Feb. 1, 2010) – With the help of four Lumber Liquidators Professional Bowlers Association Tour stars and a star-studded lineup of celebrities, New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard and avid bowler Chris Paul will again highlight his “second-favorite sport” in the second annual Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational which airs Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
Celebrity icons Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl wide receiver Hines Ward and linebacker LaMarr Woodley along with Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio teamed with PBA stars Pete Weber, Norm Duke, Wes Malott and Jason Belmonte in a unique doubles competition to benefit Paul’s CP3 Foundation.
The made-for-TV fundraiser, conducted in early January at Riverboat Lanes on the New Orleans Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, also had a strong patriotic theme. Service men and women from all branches of the United States military packed the bowling center for the competition.

“I know this invitational will make for great television. The competition on the bowling lanes gets as intense at times as it does on the NBA hardwood,” Paul said. “This event is a major part of the CP3 Foundation’s fundraising efforts and I am thankful for everyone’s involvement in making this a great night of bowling. It was also an amazing opportunity to share this event with the U.S. military personnel who sacrifice so much to protect our freedom every day.”
“Chris Paul is not only an electrifying athlete on the basketball court – and a great role model for kids in all sports – but he has great respect and passion for bowling as well. If we can join hands and help him raise money that helps others, all the better,” said PBA Deputy Commissioner Tom Clark. “But one thing everyone who watches the finals Sunday will quickly find out is that while all of these guys have fun bowling, they definitely are in it to win.”
Adding to the pressure for the celebrity bowlers is country music star Garth Brooks’ pledge of $1,000 to the CP3 Foundation for each strike thrown by the non-PBA players.
The Chris Paul Celebrity Invitational will pair four Storm Bowling Products staff members with celebrity partners. Malott, the reigning PBA Player of the Year, will bowl with Ward. PBA Hall of Famer Weber is matched up with Ludacris. Duke will be paired with either Woodley or Del Rio, depending upon a roll-off between the two. And Paul will bowl with Australia’s two-handed star, Belmonte.
Paul, a three-time NBA All-Star, was the league’s MVP runner-up in 2008 and was a member of the 2008 gold medal-winning U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team. He was named to the 2008-09 NBA All-Defensive First Team, becoming the first player in franchise history to do so, and holds the NBA record for consecutive games with a steal (108). Paul currently leads the Hornets in scoring average (20.4), assists (11.2) and minutes played (38.7).
Grammy Award-winning artist and actor Ludacris is one of the highest-selling hip hop solo artists with more than 24 million units sold worldwide. The Atlanta native has appeared in numerous films including “2 Fast 2 Furious,” “Hustle and Flow,” and “Crash.”
Ward, who recently completed is 12th season in the NFL, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro. He was the MVP of Super Bowl XL in 2006 and owns Steeler career records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.
Woodley, who just completed his third season, was rewarded for a career-best 62 tackles (50 solo) and 13.5 sacks - third best in the NFL – with a spot in the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl. The former University of Michigan defensive end was the 2006 Lombardi and Ted Hendricks award winner, a first team All-American and National Defensive Player of the Year.
Del Rio, a former all-pro and NFL Pro Bowl linebacker, played 11 years in the NFL with five teams. He has been Jaguars head coach since 2003. He previously held coaching positions with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints.

Strike Out Diabetes Bowling Ball on ESPN
Broadview, IL 1/18/09: Lynda Barnes, professional bowler used her custom OnTheBallBowling.com bowling ball Sunday during the TV finals of the PBA Earl Anthony Memorial Tournament. Lynda created a bowling ball that is close to her heart, a Diabetes Research logo on one side and the American Flag on the other. Lynda has been a long time Team USA member and the Barnes' family found out about 1.5 years ago that one of their sons, Troy suffered from Juvenile Diabetes. They have been involved in raising funds for the organization for about 1 year and have helped raise over $12,000 to date.

STRIKEFORCE BOWLING AND BRUNSWICK BOWLING sales teams to consolidate
BROADVIEW, Ill., Jan. 13, 2010 – Brunswick Bowling & Billiards and Strikeforce Bowling, LLC, announced today that they will combine their sales teams in order to serve bowling pro shops and distributors more efficiently and more effectively.
Steve Caffrey, vice president sales for Brunswick Aftermarket & Consumer Products, and Brad Handelman, president of Strikeforce Bowling LLC, said the consolidation will allow both Brunswick and KR Strikeforce to provide superior customer service and improved efficiencies. “With the complimentary nature of our product lines, and the knowledge base and expertise of our product specialists, it was an easy decision to consolidate our efforts,” said Caffrey.
Nick Stickler, Vice President of Brunswick Aftermarket and Consumer Products added, “Brunswick and KR Strikeforce have been partners in the Consumer Products business since KR became the licensee for Brunswick bowling bags in 1994. Although the two companies will remain independent, we expect the combined sales force will strengthen that alliance.”
“We have listened to our customers and business partners, and feel this will provide unprecedented service to the industry,” said Handelman. “The pro shops will have more frequent visits from their KR/Brunswick sales representative, which we believe will help the business of both of our companies as well as our customers.”

Sept. 9, 2009 – ONTHEBALLBOWLING.COM, Cypress Lanes, and 97 Country team up to keep bowling fresh
OnTheBallBowling.com recently paired up with Cypress Lanes in Florida to help them out with a league which 97 Country, a local radio station down in Florida, sponsored. The league consisted of 14 teams with four bowlers per team. How this league differs from most others is all of the bowlers were new bowlers. Leagues such as this one play a critical part in ensuring the longevity of the sport we all love. There was so much positive feedback from this league, details for the next one are already being ironed out. The next league will be a pin promotion league in which every bowler will get a pin.

The newly signed Dallas Maverick, Shawn Marion, just finished his fourth annual Shawn “The Matrix” Marion Basketball Camp last week. The Matrix’s three-day camp had 250 young athletes ranging from the age of 8-16.
Away from the court, Marion, a four-time NBA All-star and Olympic athlete, is an avid bowler. February 28th, 2009 :: Brian Bever and Robin Orlikowski – Great bowlers…again
OTB extends a special congratulations to two of the company's employees, Brian Bever and Robin Orlikoswki.
Brian; who has bowled in the greater Baltimore area for over 25 years, amassing numerous titles and honor scores; was recently inducted into The Cecil Harford USBC Bowling Association's Hall of Fame in the categories of Superior Performance. At age 14 he bowled his first 300 game, during a Junior Bowlers Tour tournament in New Jersey and has bowled an additional 67 since!
Meanwhile, Robin Orlikowski was named Canadian Tenpin Federation 2008 Bowler Of The Year. Robin earned this title by finishing in third place at the Canadian National Championships which earned her a place on the 2009 Team Canada. She also was a member of the team that won both handicap and scratch titles at the 2008 National Mixed Championships and finished second in scratch all events. She was first in scratch all events at the Michigan state mixed championships.
We are very proud of all of their accomplishments and to have them on the OTB team.

Miami Heat superstar and Olympic gold medalist Dwayne Wade participated in a bowling event in his hometown of Chicago, September 4-6 as part of the first annual D. Wade’s Young, Fly, Flashy Weekend.
Wade, a member of the 2008 Olympic gold medal basketball squad, visited Action Pro Shop to get a Brunswick ball drilled for the charity event and was presented with a large and miniature OnTheBallBowling.com ball featuring a photo of him slam dunking a basketball on one side and an his foundation’s logo on the other.

August 6th, 2008 - OTBB DONATES CUSTOMIZED BOWLING BALL FOR KERRY WOOD'S FUNDRAISER
Kerry Wood will be joined by other Cub players, managers, legends, and superstar fans for a Celebrity Bowling Extravaganza at 10pin Bowling Lounge to benefit the Organic School Project and “change the way children eat, one school at a time.” The evening will be hosted by Cubs play-by-play broadcaster, Len Kasper. All other Cubs players will leave their cleats at Wrigley and put on their bowling shoes at 10pin to join in on the fun - all for a great cause! July 15, 2008 - FIRST ONTHEBALLBOWLING BALL WAS BORN!
At approximately 4:15 p.m. on July 15th, 2008 OnTheBallBowling gave birth to their first customized bowling ball! Weighing in at 8 lbs and with an 8.5-inch diameter, the bowling ball was vibrant in color and clear in image. Employees of OnTheBallBowling were all smiles as the ball was pulled from the machine. Ryan Crytzer was the winner of the Strike Ten Promotions SpongeBob Gumball Contest. He is the son of Trent Crytzer, who works at FunFest Entertainment Center in Pittsburgh, PA. With his guess of 736 gumballs in the jar, he was the closest person to the actual total of 730 gumballs. He beat out 142 other contestants.
