Ball Repair

1.  If a mechanical resurfacing machine (Haus) were used to smooth out the shell of the ball it is not recommend using the diamond-cutting wheel.  After five minutes the ball will begin to fade. The diamond wheel cuts too fast and too deep.

Recommendation: Skip the first step of the Diamond wheel and start with the brown scotch brite pad, which is about 400 grit for five minutes. Then continue on to the next step and polish.

2.  If you are using a hand spinner or a Cook Sphere machine to repair nicks or to smooth out the shell of the ball it is recommended that you don’t use a grade of 320 or stronger to cut the ball.  After seven minutes on a hand spinner with 320 grit sandpaper the ball will again begin to fade.

Recommendation: Start with 400 grit sandpaper and work all four sides of the ball.  Then continue onto 600 grit, then onto 800 or 1000 grit, and finally finish with polish.

3.  Any alcohol-based ball cleaner will not affect the ball if used in a reasonable manner.

4.  The use of a ball polishing or cleaning machine (Lustre King) will also not affect the ball.
