It is very unfortunate when a family loses their child at a young age. It is no different in this situation. Tim Nickos of Oak Lawn, IL passed from an enlarged heart recently. His mother and father decided to run a bowling fundraiser in memory of their son to start a scholarship for the students of Tim’s high school.

Back of the pin honoring Tim Nickos.

The money raised would be given to a student at Tim’s high school, Oak Lawn Community High School who embodied similar qualities that Tim did. The student that will earn the scholarship will receive $2,500 towards college education.

About Tim:
Tim Nickos was truly an amazing individual. He lived every day to the fullest by inspiring and motivating many through his contagious smile and great sense of humor. He was truly loved by many. Tim was to be the Captain of the Oak Lawn Community High School varsity swim team his senior year and was also a proud member of the OLCHS band. Most importantly, Tim always provided for everyone around him. Tim was tragically taken from us in his sleep at the young age of 17. He had a heart condition called Cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) that went undiagnosed. This led to cardiac arrhythmia, which took his life.

If you’d like to read more about the scholarship fund please click here.

To the Nickos family: We are truly sorry for your loss. Nothing anyone can say will bring your son back. We are happy to see you all taking this situation and turning it into a great awareness in honor of your son. We hope you much success in your future fundraising and we are honored to be involved.

The Los Angeles Clippers took over Keystone Lanes in Norwalk March 25 weekend to celebrate their 12th annual Los Angeles Clippers Foundation Charity BasketBowl Challenge.

“[Chris Paul] is pretty good, but at his bowling event, my team won,” Clippers forward Blake Griffin said before the start of the event on Sunday. “So I will let that speak for itself.”

Teams of season ticket holders, sponsors and other Clippers fans faced off against one another in a day full of fun, prizes, giveaways and plenty of laughs – all for a good cause. All proceeds from the event benefit the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation, which exists to foster and support community outreach programs and activities primarily for children in greater Los Angeles.

Each Clippers player and coach was assigned to a team of bowlers, giving attendees a chance to see the team in action off the basketball court. Each Clipper’s player had their own custom bowling ball made with the team name on one side and their jersey number and name on the other.

What does a NBA star do in his spare time? BOWL! Tyreke Evans of the NBA Sacramento Kings is an outstanding player winning some phenomenal awards during his early years in the NBA including–2010 NBA Rookie of the Year, 2010 NBA Rookie First Team, 2010 NBA Rookie Challenge MVP, and 2008 McDonald’s All-American Game MVP. What does he do for fun and relaxation–bowl!

Evans is an avid bowler and for Christmas he received a unique gift from his girlfriend. He received his very own custom designed and made bowling ball. One side of his gift is shown here.

Evans is noted for his catch phrase “Reke Havoc” so its naturally been included OnTheBall along with a “cool” profile picture of himself. No one will dare “Reke Havoc” with this player on the lanes!

Popular St. Louis radio personality Kenny “Iggy” Strode commissioned OnTheBallBowling.com to create an exclusive, one-of-a-kind bowling ball for one of America’s most popular and iconic entertainers in modern pop culture, and bowler, Lady Gaga.

OnTheBallBowling.com has quickly become the “go-to” company creating one-of-a-kind bowling products (balls/pins) for America’s most rich and famous celebrities from the sports and entertainment worlds. “We’ve created exclusively designed bowling balls for Grammy Award winning singer-songwriters John Legend and Kid Rock, the Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade, Philadelphia Eagles LeSean McCoy, Dallas Cowboys Jason Witten and the NBA World Champion Dallas Maverick’s Shawn Marion to drop just a few names” says John Harbuck, OnTheBallBowling’s VP of Marketing and Product Development.

A self-proclaimed “Little Monster” himself, “Iggy” as his fans refer to him, couldn’t have been more pleased with the bowling ball OnTheBallBowling created for Lady Gaga, aka Mother Monster. Strode is working on and soon hopes to schedule an interview with Lady Gaga.

Like Lady Gaga, Strode is a tireless advocate for building awareness, education and prevention of bullying and cyber-bullying in our children’s daily environment. He serves on the board of directors for the Megan Meier Foundation which is headquartered near St. Louis.

Adds Strode, “Lady Gaga is a true “fashionista”… it only makes sense that she has her very own exclusively designed bowling ball for her next trip to the local bowling lanes. The design team at OnTheBallBowling nailed it, the ball makes a statement and it fits her personality perfectly”.

About Kenny “Iggy” Strode

“Iggy” Strode has been in the Radio Business since 1992.

Danny Mohabir, GM for AMF’s Garden City Lanes called on the Girl Scouts of Nassau County NY in hopes of generating some goodwill with one of America’s most well known and respected organizations. What he got was an Open House event attended by over 250 Girl Scouts, parents and supporters. Asked how he pulled this off Danny states “I believe it is important to book open house events as it leads our business to new opportunities. I have booked well over 100 events through open houses in the past year…it is a great way to meet the community and reach potential bowlers.”

Phase 2 of Danny’s plan was to foster this newly formed relationship into other areas of his business. One of the hooks Danny needed was a unique league offering to motivate Girl Scouts to sign up for the league. That’s where OnTheBallBowling.com comes in…”we designed an exclusive Girl Scout Bowling Ball for Danny and we got it approved by the Girl Scouts national organization. The ball features the Girl Scout logo on the front and the Girl Scout’s Law on the back…it’s a great design, the Girl Scouts loved it and we’re encouraging other AMF centers to utilize it to form Girl Scout Leagues all over the country.” says John Harbuck, EVP of OnTheBallBowling.com.

The event was listed on the Nassau County Girl Scout website which promotes to over 20,000 girls scouts, and Danny was even invited to attend Girl Scout events in the local malls. “Prior to receiving the invitation from the Girl Scouts, I had tried to get into the local malls to promote our center, but the fee to do so is $1500 per day. Talk about free publicity!” adds Danny. In total, Danny says his Girl Scout Leagues have floored over a hundred bowlers which has generated positive publicity and incremental food and beverage sales for the center. As an added bonus, five parents booked their daughters’ birthday parties at the center on the first day of the league. Danny is working on the next Girl Scout league and expects a turnout of 100 – 150 bowlers based on what he has heard from the parents.
